Anderson Packaging Receives Notice of Appreciation

Takeda Abbot Pharmaceutical Inc. (TAP) of North Chicago, IL, has recognized Anderson Packaging Inc., of Rockford, IL with an award in appreciation for efforts made in the February 2, 1998, launch of TAP's new PREVPAC pharmaceutical package. PREVPAC is designed to simplify the treatment regimen for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in patients with duodenal ulcers. PREVPAC contains three medications: Prevacid (lansoprazole), Biazin (clarithromycin tablets), and Trimox (amoxicillin capsules) in a convenient, pre-packaged dosing regimen.
Upon receiving TAP's award for appreciation, John Thomas, Anderson Packaging's vice president of manufacturing, noted that there were many challenges in the design of a multi-product compliance blister package. "Due to regulatory constraints, we had to develop a child resistant package around a primary blister unit made with non-child resistant materials which passed CR protocol testing, "Thomas said." Our engineering and sales staff designed a two piece card. A heat sealing system was developed to activate the blister card heat seal coating while protecting the CR opening feature."
Ed Hancock, president of Anderson Packaging's Pharmaceutical Division, also commented, "Anderson Packaging's extensive experience in multiple component blister and CR packaging was critical to success."
