AMERISOURCEBERGEN PACKAGING GROUP INTRODUCES LATEST CONFIGURATION OF COMPLIANCE IN A BOTTLE®, CIAB®.

Rockford, IL, February 9, 2009 - The AmerisourceBergen Packaging Group is pleased to introduce the latest configuration of Compliance In A Bottle®, CIAB®, which now features extended dosing capabilities. CIAB® is a patented compliance prompting packaging design that combines the health benefits of a unit dose blister and the consumer convenience of a plastic bottle. This innovative package utilizes a child resistant cap and body design, which keeps medications safe and secure while enabling portability and convenience. Housed within the plastic outer are unit dose blisters that highlight dosing instructions, days of the week, and patient information. The latest CIAB® option features multiple blister units within the pack, accommodating larger tablet and capsules sizes as well as extended dosing regiments.

According to Peter Belden, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Anderson Packaging, "We are very pleased to offer our customers this newest CIAB® design. We have seen significant demand from the market towards compliance prompting packaging. Traditionally the ability to provide a conveniently sized compliance package and still deliver a month's worth of product could be challenging for larger sized products. The CIAB® design with multiple blisters really provides a great platform for delivering larger capsules and tablets. It's also a great fit for cold-formed "foil-foil" style blisters. You can market your product with 30 doses and deliver it in a convenient, portable, and very elegant design."

In repeated testing, the CIAB® design has achieved the highest rating of F=1 for the Consumer Product Safety Commission's Child Resistant test protocol. In CPSC Senior Friendly testing, the CIAB® has achieved favorable status and positive feedback. The "Push Down, Slide, and Remove" opening mechanism balances consumer convenience and security while maintaining ease of opening for seniors and those with limited dexterity.
